Calgary Summer Wedding Photography

Calgary summer weddings are no doubt beautiful. Calgarians seem to be in an awesome mood from the warm weather and the vitamin D.  When it comes to weddings, especially in a place with winters like Calgary's, summer really is king! I've talked about the pluses and minuses of winter, fall and spring weddings in previous blogs, but today it's all about the main season for weddings!

So let’s talk about the elephant in the room when it comes to summer weddings, what if it rains?

The great news about living in Calgary is that rain isn’t too scary here. If it rains it’ll often only rain for about 15 minutes, 30 minutes max! there are times  where we’ve been staked out in the limo, waiting for the rain to leave. But in the grand scheme of things it really doesn’t ruin the day. In fact those dark dramatic skies often make for some of my favourite photographs. Plus with an experienced wedding photographer you can get great photos inside, around your venue, under cover outside or under umbrellas.

For the ceremony build in a little extra time in your wedding day schedule to wait 15 or 20 minutes to wait out a storm if you want to have your ceremony outside. You can always rent a tent to have as a backup plan as well, and always ask your venue if they have an alternative space for wedding ceremonies on rainy days.

But enough about the rain! Summer weddings are great because everyone is in a good mood and ready to party! Lots of people have time off and combine your wedding into their holiday time. Plus the weather is usually nice, the flowers are in bloom the leaves are green and the sun sets late in the day!

So I say I am all in for summer weddings, there is nothing quite as romantic as summer love in Calgary. Here are some of my favourite moments captured in the summer time and even a few in the rain!

Cheers!
