People have been giving rings as a sign of love for thousands of years. Some historians believe the practice was started in ancient Egypt with rings made of reeds used as a symbol of eternity. We also owe the tradition of the ring finger on the left hand being the spot for the wedding ring because they believed it had a vein that connected directly to the heart.
Finding a way to capture the rings and have it be not just a picture of three objects, but to have the image show the commitment and the emotion that the rings represent. It’s a chance to slow down during the busy wedding day and focus in on three objects and their meaning. It's also a great chance to incorporate some of the style and details of the wedding day.
So here on the blog today are some favourite ring photographs that I was lucky to get to capture.
