What is the process for wedding photography and how do we get started?
The first step will be meeting up and figuring out which options for service and finished images would be best for you.
How much photography time do I need?
While this is different for every wedding and every couple there are some basic guidelines based on what type of wedding you are having. If you are having a very simple elopement you might be able to get all the photos you'd like to have in under four hours, but for the most part four hours is the most basic amount of photography time. That is why my pricing starts with four hours in mind. This can range all the way up to a 12 hour day or even multiple days for certain wedding celebrations.
Are you a professional wedding photographer?
Yes, I have worked as a photographer my whole adult life. After graduating from photojournalism at SAIT I worked as a photojournalist for the Banff Crag & Canyon newspaper. I then worked for a portrait company while I got Brendan Nogue Photography up and running. I have worked as a wedding and business photographer full-time ever since and I love it!
What types of photos will you take?
I try to take images that encompass the story of the entire day! While my main focus is on getting you stunning portraits that you will want to hang as art on your walls and candid moments that reveal the emotions of the day. I also cover details shots of all the little things you put so much thought in to, formal family portraits and the images of the planned games and activities during the day.
What is your photography style?
I don't define my photography with a particular style. I try to use every skill and tool available to me to capture all the moments that tell the story of your wedding day. The way I choose to tell the story of your wedding day comes from getting to know you as best I can before the wedding day and finding out what is most important to you, how you plan to use your finished photos and figuring out how best we work together. That being said I try to capture moments and document the story of your wedding day in a photojournalistic style and combine that with inspiring creative images.
How much will my wedding photography cost?
My prices start at $1979 for four hours of photography coverage and an online gallery of images. To properly get an idea of how much photography coverage time you would like for your wedding day and what types of finished products you will most appreciate for your images I always like to have a meeting and discuss all the details of your wedding day. Feel free to contact me to get more details on my wedding photography pricing including some specially designed collection that present a major savings when packaged together.
Why do we need to have a meeting to get a price for our wedding photography?
I can provide some package information if you contact me by email, but mostly it is important to meet up so that we can make sure that I am providing you with right price. First I need to discuss with you how you see your wedding day going and how you would like to use the images afterwards in order to offer you the right set of options for your wedding photography.
Do we get the digital files of our wedding and engagement images?
It depends on the package of finished images you purchase, but I offer several different options for purchasing your digital images. You can get them in full-resolution, for making big wall prints, 8x12 resolution for making gift prints, and tabletop sized prints or you get get them sized for online if you feel like you will use them mostly on the web and in emails. These are all different options that work for different people and I would love to discuss which one would be best for you. For your engagement photos I include the digital images as part of the included free service to help us get better acquainted and for you to get a better feel for my photography style.
What will be the finished product?
That is totally up to you! I offer everything from different sized digital images, to beautiful wall mounted art prints to hand crafted albums that can be modern or classic. It is all about how you would like to experience your finished images once it is all said and done.
Do I need an engagement session?
Yes and no, I provide a free engagement session along with everyone of my weddings because I think it's a great way for us to get to know each other before we are together for most of the day on one of the most important days of your life. It gives you a chance to see how I work to and give me some feedback on what your favourite photos were. The session is truly free meaning it can't be exchanged for something else, but if you really don't want to do the session before your wedding day that is fine as well.
Do you do elopements?
Yes, I do, but there are some different options that apply as opposed to a regular full-day wedding so please contact me for pricing and booking details.
Do you do destination weddings?
Absolutely! I would love to talk to you about your destination wedding anywhere in the world! Including people coming from other parts of the world to use the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Alberta as the backdrop for their destination wedding. Destination weddings are a different set of circumstances so I'd love to talk and discuss what you have in mind.
I'm not photogenic will I still get wedding photos that I love?
Yes! Nobody thinks they are photogenic, but don't worry you are, I promise! Many people think they hate having their picture taken, but by the time we get to know each other a little, pick the right spot to do photos and talk a little about the process people always find it a lot easier than they think and even pretty fun.
Why would I choose Brendan Nogue Photography as my wedding photographer?
I think if I am the right wedding photographer for you then you will love my big picture approach. I believe that it isn't only about the finished photos it is also about the whole experience. From the first meeting to the wedding day and after I want my couples to feel respected, comfortable and relaxed. I want them to have fun on their wedding day. I will do whatever I can to make the best images I can and a huge part of that is making sure the couple is taken care of. When I get my photo taken I don't like event the best photos if they only bring back memories of uncomfortable positions, awkward conversation and a rude photographer who was only out to get photos for themselves.
It is also my big picture approach in that I want you to have pictures that you can print BIG and hang on your walls. I want it to be not only beautiful because it reminds you of such an amazing day, but also as a piece of art that anyone could enjoy.
But you know I'm biased...
