I had never been to the Heartland Café until I photographed a wedding there last year. But from the moment I saw the outside of this beautiful, historic church I knew I wanted to photograph more weddings there!
As a wedding photographer I loved the opportunity to photograph inside a refurbished historic church for both the ceremony and the reception. There are classic wood floors and tall stained glass windows as well as modern touches like large chandeliers and of course a bar, which isn't normally found in most churches!
The Heartland Café may sound familiar to Calgarians because there was a long running location in Sunnyside that recently moved to Bridgeland where it continues to be an institution in central Calgary. The Okotoks location has some different menu items, but the same great quality.
This is the absolutely perfect venue for someone who is torn between the traditional and the modern looks of different wedding venues. You can have it both ways! Or just for anyone having a smaller wedding who wants great food in a unique spot!
